Sunday morning

A lively adult education class is a key part of our Sunday gathering. Such a program has been determined by the SEARCH Institute to be one of the key indicators of whether a congregation is an effective, growing church that makes a difference in peoples’ lives.

We have a lively, engaged group of active learners at our adult ed. We present one topic per month and explore that for three weeks in such a way that will, through God’s grace, help us to grow in faith and wisdom. Topics may be Bible study, burning topics of our times, faith issues, historical issues, etc.

We do not meet in the summer.

Continuing Education

St. John’s fully supports the innovative and nationally recognized Lay School of Ministry offered by the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin. In the past few years we have had more members enrolled than any other congregation in the synod, and we have all benefitted from their growth in knowledge and faith.

Men’s Breakfast / Bible Study

All men are welcome to enjoy a fantastic breakfast at church and share in a study of a chapter of the Bible. This group meets at church the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 8:00 a.m.

Women of Faith

This group is open to any woman at St. John’s and any guests they might want to invite. They meet twice a month, once for a faith-based book discussion on the first Tuesday of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. during the school year, and once for a service project, usually on the third Monday of each month from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. throughout the year.

Women’s Circles (WELCA)

The women’s organization of St. John’s, known as WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America), includes all women members of St. John’s. Their purpose and mission is to further God’s work locally and around the world, by giving back to God what God has first given us.

They offer two circle opportunities:

  • Naomi / Ruth Circle meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. during the school year in the community room at Heritage Apartments, 2003 Altoona Ave., Eau Claire.

  • Lois Circle meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. during the school year in the library.

Men’s Master Builder (Lutheran Men In Mission)

This group currently has 8-10 active members. They meet once a month during the summer and twice a month from September – May. Their study revolves around how specific Scriptures relate to their daily lives. They are always open to new members. Diner’s Club

This group usually meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at different restaurants in the Chippewa Valley. It is a wonderful group that loves to get together for fellowship and great food. Anyone and everyone are invited to join them. If you like to eat out, but do not enjoy eating alone, this is the time to enjoy an evening away with friends.
