St. John’s Lutheran Church is a people formed in the waters of Christian baptism to be a fountain of life for all who gather here, overflowing into a river of compassion for the world.

What is the first thing you notice when you walk into a church? The first thing you should encounter in a Christian church is the love of God in Jesus Christ. If that is not plainly visible, then the rest of what happens in there doesn’t really matter. We at St. John’s constantly experience the love of God in Jesus Christ. We try to reflect that love by being a fountain of life for everyone who comes through our doors. We strive to share that love by letting it flow into the community and the world.

St. John’s is not a place for people who are perfect. It is a place to experience forgiveness, renewal, community, love, and hope. Come on in, the water’s fine!

ImagePlease come for the food: pancakes, bacon or sausage, fruit and beverage. All for a free will donation.

The year 2017 marks the international observance of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. In honor of that anniversary, our midweek Lenten worship will be built around Luther’s Small Catechism. The Small Catechism was designed as a teaching tool of the faith, not just within the church but in the home.

Week One: The Ten Commandments
Week Two: The Apostle’s Creed
Week Three: The Lord’s Prayer
Week Four: Holy Baptism – The Sacrament at the Font
Week Five: Holy Communion – The Sacrament at the Altar

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 1st, followed by Lenten midweek worship services on the following Wednesdays: March 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, and April 5that 12:15 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Lenten soup meals will be served at 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

We are going to be looking at the symbols and rituals of our worship. Most of what we say or do in worship comes directly out of the Bible, but there are also ways of expressing reverence and in experiencing God that vary from denomination to denomination, congregation to congregation, and even individual to individual.

Please join us on Sundays, March 5, 12 and 19, at 9:30 a.m. in the Promise Room.
