Are you looking for a way this summer to stay connected and be fed in the Spirit?

Are you hungry for a break from the chaos of this world? Soul Food on Wednesdays at St. John's is a time to be fed spiritually, to care for your self, gather as a family, or connect with the community through acts of love.

The themes of the weeks during the summer months include: a modified Summer Stretch time of Service, gathering around an Agape FEAST Meal, a mental health Sabbath break, and Prayer around the Cross. Watch for online information early in the week about Wednesday’s Soul Food.

This summer please join us for Soul Food on Wednesdays at St. John's.

Join us for some new experiences with Soul Food on Wednesdays:

August 5 – 8:00am  "Prayer around the Cross"

August 12 - "Service"   In recent communication we had shared that we planned to work in St. John’s cemetery, but since then, Dani from ECASD homeless project reached out to me and asked if we could help with a project.  (It DOES NOT involve weeding!) We have worked with Dani on this project the last several summers of Summer Stretch, so we were thrilled when this opportunity arose!

 Here are the details:

  • Need 15 volunteers
  • 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 12    Call the church office if you are available to go (715-834-9571) by August 7th.
  • Each volunteer will need to wear a mask as we will be working indoors. (everyone will be socially distanced, hence the maximum count of 15)
  • Location of the project is the ECASD main office on Main St.

The project will be to sort donations and to pack/repack back packs for the new school year.

 August 19 – "Agape Meal"

Have you ever invited Christ to your table for a meal?  Yes, you probably have given thanks before a meal and have been thankful for the food to God. But, have you ever thought to invite God to your dinner table?  At Holy Communion, Jesus invites us to his table but at the AGAPE meal, we invite Jesus. This week at our midweek Soul Food, we invite you to try a little ritual of Agape, fellowship in love at table. The ritual is simple and is attached below for you to print out. You can do this table fellowship at dinner, at a picnic with family, at a barbecue, or during dessert with friends.  Any time you break bread, share a meal (even when alone with God), or have fellowship. A few families at St. John’s have already tried it. Check out their video here:   https://youtu.be/efUvGhvibyM

August 26 – "Sabbath - Self Care"
